Public minutes of 106th SB meeting on February 8th, 2018

- Regular items
- The open requirements, pending actions, status of long open bug reports, as well as physics and computing performance monitoring are reviewed.
- 2018 Collaboration processes
- 2018 census result was reviewed.
- Election of WG coordinator / representative
- Election method has to be agreed within each working group.
- Election should start immediately and should be concluded by February 28th.
- The next Steering Board meeting will be in early March and will
be a transitional SB meeting
- First part is composed by the current membership to endorse the elections
- Second part is composed by the fresh membership.
- 2018 work plan
- WG-level 2018 work plan has to be created during the WG election
period.
- Then work items will be discussed at early March SB meeting
- Based on the discussion at the next SB meeting, collaboration-wide 2018 work plan will be created and announce.

- Git migration
- Efforts are undergoing.
- Two switchover options are anticipated:
- March-April or end-of-June (post-Beta release)
- Date will be fixed at the next SB meeting, based on the status of remaining work/test.
- Note in particular that the switchover will be “hard”: i.e. SVN will be frozen.
- A downtime of a few days is foreseen with Git access limited to Git migration task force to verify the correctness of the new system.
- March-April or end-of-June (post-Beta release)
- Need volunteers to help with testing, documentation, etc.

- Drupal-7 migration
- Propose to switch in the second half of February
- Short downtime is foreseen. Announcement will be made in advance.

- Migration of Geant4 threading system to C++11
- Adopting C++11 MT features instead of POSIX ones
- Should allow porting of MT on Windows.
- A quiet development period will be used to perform the migration
- The SB will coordinate the dates of tags delivery, as no other tags will be allowed during the migration.
